Rays Inch Closer to Playoffs, Win 5-3
The Rays are one step closer to playing in the postseason. They were able to beat the Yankees 5-3 on Tuesday night.
It wasn’t easy though. Jeremy Hellickson pitched a fairly decent game, giving up 3 runs.
The Rays helped themselves by turning a bases loaded triple play in the sixth inning that saved at least one run.
Zobrist hit a 2 run homer in the 2nd inning off Bartolo Colon, Matt Joyce hit a 3 run homer in the 7th inning off Rafael Soriano to put the Rays ahead for good.
Boston also beat Baltimore. If the Rays and Red Sox remained tied, the Rays will host the Red Sox for a 1 game playoff on Thursday at 4:07PM.
