Silver Alert Launched in Pinellas

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

A new Silver alert for missing senior citizens has been launched in Pinellas county starting today.

The Silver alert is similar to the Amber alert and details regarding missing senior citizens will be displayed on various digital traffic signs across Pinellas county.

This day is bittersweet for Mary Lalluci because she lost her mom, Mary Zelter, 86, who disappeared after a trip to the store. Zelter had dementia and wound up driving her car into the water and drowned.

The Silver alert plan will possibly going nationwide soon, also.

“Congressman Gus Billirakis also took it to a national level where it got support from the House. It’s now waiting to be passed in the U.S. Senate. If the Silver Alert is passed by the U.S. Senate it will then be up to individual states whether to put it in place. Congressman C.W. Bill Young also helped sponsor it.”

They’re trying to make the area attractive for tourism.

My question: Are the windows bullet proof glass?

Matt Bryant’s Baby Son Dies

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Sad news out of Bucs camp today. Matt Bryant, kicker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, lost his infant son this morning.

“Gruden said 3-month-old Tryson “just didn’t wake up”. He didn’t have any further information.”

Understandably, Bryant is taking some personal time to deal with this unfortunate situation. The kicking duties for this weekend’s game against the Green Bay Packers has yet to be determined.

“In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Tryson’s name to March of Dimes, 405 N Reo St., Suite 105, Tampa, FL 33609. For more information, call (813) 287-2600.”

All of us at Pinellas Local are deeply saddened by this tragedy and wish the best for Matt Bryant and his family in their time of grief.
